I'm not saying that you have to be an engineer to assemble and hang this...but it helps. As other reviewers have mentioned, this door comes primed, not painted, and we were prepared for that. It's also hollow, but that's in the title. No worries.
We were also prepared to add a 1x4 above the existing doorframe - and unless you have perfectly 16" spaced studs around your door, you're going to need to do this, too. Just attach the board to the studs, and the slider bar hardware to the board.
BIG annoyances: 1) the instructions explicitly say to hang slider bar 85-11/16" above the floor, and that was a full half inch too low, so we had to remove the bar, drill holes above the ones we'd just drilled, and re-hang.
2) Whywhywhy does the slider bar come in 2 halves? A full 71" bar would still be shorter than the door, so it's just silly. What a pain. Still, with some finessing, we got the 2 pieces assembled and hung level.
3) There are NOT pre-drilled holes for the door handle. Not a huge deal if you have a 10mm drill bit, but come on. At least correct the instructions.
Definitely a bigger pain to install than expected and it needed to be, but it looks good, slides easily, and feels pretty sturdy now that we're finished.. Samantha. NC. Sat Aug 08 2026
