I am quite pleased with these (2) lamps. One of them had a minor scuff, barely visible, in one small area (maybe half the size of a dime), which surely predated the packing & shipping which was thick & protective. With the lamp shades in place, the barely visible scuff becomes virtually invisible.
One issue which I should have anticipated was the sightline to the bulb as one looks down on the short lamp with a wide open rectangular shade of 4 sides BUT NO TOP CLOSURE OR NARROWING. I'd recommend to others that these lamps be placed on something taller than a traditional end table - maybe high on a book shelf or mantle (not lower than eye level). The direct light from my 8-watt dimmable bulbs can be distractingly bright if you're standing too close to the lamp, looking down.
I solved the problem by adding a translucent round plastic top above the bulb and a piece of fabric that fills the entire rectangle (the same color as the actual lamp shade & also translucent). The holes drilled/cut into these added pieces center them and the finial holds them in place. Voila! These bulbs do not get hot so this is a safe solution.
I love the dimmable feature and have the lamps on a circuit that allows turning them on & off with one switch on the wall. I could hardly be more pleased! 4 stars due to my lack of planning (which was rectified), but they are 5-star quality.. Tom. Norfolk, VA. Wed May 27 2026
