Had high hopes for this murphy bed. Professional assembly wasn't an option at checkout, so I hired someone from a third party, very reputable and over 2,000 5 star reviews website. After 3 hours into the assembly they noticed a completely stripped screw on the piston assembly for one side. Manufacturer defect. They got the bed together as much as they could. Obviously not being able to secure one of the pistons with a lug nut is a safety issue. I contacted Wayfair customer service with the concerns, documented the issue. Less than helpful customer service. When I told them I didn't have the assembly guide on me they didn't offer to look up the part number to replace the replacement part number. When I asked for compensation to pay someone to come back out to finish the job they told me they couldn't offer anything. I have a hard time seeing how it should cost me $400 in sunk cost to pay someone to assemble the murphy bed, only to find out they couldn't complete the job. Then I have to pay someone to come back out, partially disassemble and then reassemble another estimated $200 due to a manufacturer defective part. I offered having Wayfair send out one of their own assembly pros to disassemble and reassemble the bed, at no charge to me, I was also told they "couldn't do that." I am not looking to make money, just pay what I should have paid all along. Not 1.5-2x due to a manufacturer issue. Not the Wayfair experience I remember from the past or brand I'd expect.. Andrea.
