The finished product is great. The couch is not too comfortable, but functional. I think some pillows and stuff will help. Now, on to a review of the assembly. I hired a pro who had assembled 7-8 Murphy beds previously. It took him 8.5 hours to finish this one! And when I tell you he was working at top speed with maximum efficiency and NO BREAKS, I’m not exaggerating. Just unpacking and sorting the pieces took about 45-60min. Assembly went smoothly for the most part. But the instruction manual had a lot of unclear or just plain wrong guidance. So he had to decipher what was needed throughout the process. He used a lot of his own screws as many of those included were not the appropriate size. The worst part was getting the hydraulics in place. The manual had us attatching the unit to the wall. It was all screwed in and stable. And then the hydraulic installation required that he get BEHIND THE UNIT. There was no way to get them on with it attached to the wall. So he had to detach it from the wall and moved it out so he could get behind there. We even watched the included QRC video for that step, which showed the guy installing the hydraulics with the unit not on the wall. Hopefully this info will help the next person! All in all I’m happy with the product. I put a 6” cool gel foam mattress on it and slept like a rock! I’d give the final product 5 stars. And the manual and instructions 4 stars. If it hadn’t been for the super smart guy who put it together, it would have taken me a week to figure it out! So u less there is a way to give 4.5 stars, I’m going to give it a 4. Worst assembly instructions EVER. It took 3 engineers 11 hours to assemble. Cheap materials that chip and bend. Murky and confusing instructions. We probably rebuilt the thing 3 times because we would discover that a board was backwards four steps later. The cushions are a joke. 1 inch thick. Upon receipt of the shipment, the box was damaged through to the product. I was discussing a credit with wayfair, as I was unboxing and assembling the item. After the item was assembled, it was a complete piece of junk and hazard in my home - total disaster at no fault of my own. It was cheap, compressed board, paint splatters, and damage on the furniture from the manufacturing process (just not shipping). It was wobbly, unstable, and didn't shut properly. Upon contacting wayfair, I was reassured someone would be contacting me regarding this to arrange pickup of the item. We had to disassemble it and repackage it - all a complete waste of time. Then, when I was contacted, I found out I was misinformed and required to PAY RETURN SHIPPING ($84.xx). I had no choice, as they took it right out of my refund money. No exceptions were made at all, especially given I was sold a piece of junk that could fall open and crush one of my kids because of it's poor quality material and lack of stability. Instead, the gal spent time explaining to me wayfair's policy changes and why they were necessary. Also, she explained to me that, by putting the furniture together, I voided certain coverages and warranties that wayfair provides, but I got lucky in the I was still within the return window. What a joke. The whole point was missed - as a consumer, I believed I was purchasing a safe murphy bed, that could support a mattress and shut properly (was as pictured on the site), only to find it was a hazardous piece of junk, covered in manufacturing damage and flaws, and they kept $84.xx of my money, so, in the end, I was penalized.
