These chairs are (almost) exactly what I needed. I was looking for a counter height stool with a small seat profile, not too tall, and also not too deep. I searched forever and finally came across these. Yes, the price makes them seem like they are too good to be true. The other chairs we were considering literally cost 8x as much. Are these eight times worse quality? No way. Are they high quality? Also no way. I can see how these would be great outside chairs because the craftsmanship definitely isn't super refined, but even then, they're not THAT bad. Especially at such an unusually low price. I'm totally satisfied with them as kitchen barstools and they have the perfect low profile I needed. However, there are some issues:
- These stools are listed as counter height, but are way too tall at 29.5". This is in the listing, so even though the listing name is obviously wrong, if you have a saw at your disposal then you can cut the legs down about 3"-3.5" without having to remove any of the safety supports. So that gets you to 26"-26.5", which is more accurately counter height. I noticed two other reviewers mentioned doing this too.
- The finish was not, well, finished. Get a jug of mineral oil and a microfiber cloth and go crazy on any parts of the wood that look thirsty.
- The top mortises are filled, I mean FILLED, with glue and sawdust. You need a chisel to get the glue out. It took me about an hour to grind out the top mortises in all four chairs we bought. I included a picture of the worst one that was so overfilled with glue that I couldn't even see the screw hole.
- The screws on each side of the top slat of two chairs stripped in the wood. I don't know why these were so prone to stripping when none of the support slats below the seats had problems. I've contacted the manufacturer about this because it's resulted in the bottom two seat slats jiggling in the two affected chairs. If they don't offer an exchange or refund, we'll probably try clamping and glueing in the screws on the two problem chairs. Not a dealbreaker for me personally, but probably the most visibly janky part of the product post-assembly.
Color-wise, the listing makes these chairs look very yellow. They are not. They are a pretty decent earthy brown color that comes through as yellow in some pictures. You can see this in my pictures as well as some of the other reviewers'. There's great variation in color throughout the wood that I love, but if you are familiar with natural acacia tone, that's what these are.
These chairs are 10 feet jobs. That means if you look at them closer than 10 feet away, you'll start to notice the inconsistencies and roughness. But! The price is irresistible. I am totally satisfied with them because they checked every box I needed, even though I had to do a lot of DIY to get them where I wanted. I recommend them with the warning that you need access to woodworking tools as well as a patient and forgiving demeanor to deal with assembling them.. Anonyme. Fri Jan 09 2026
