[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately I had to replace my Bosch hood range vent, FORTUNATELY I had it for close to 20 years. The product is reliable, fairly priced and provides a classic look that makes any kitchen look like a 5 star kitchen.

I am very happy that we purchased all Bosch appliances for our new home. The Bosch range hood is very handsome - I love the European look and feel. We have a very open floor plan and this hood takes care of any smells.

We were ready to purchase our entire kitchen (Thermador) when we realized that they do not make a 30" low profile island hood ( but we installed it on a wall ). Our alternative was the Bosch. This hood has a very modern and sleek design. It is light in weight and easy to install. I installed it myself by the time my husband came home from work. It came very well protective packaged and also had that protective foil which is best to remove after installation to prevent any scratches. The appliance came with very explicit instructions and also a template that is very handy when you do an one person install. It has very good suction, which is what this product is supposed to do; it gets louder with the highest level, but not annoyingly loud. I did install it directly to an external wall which I understand can help with the noise. After the install I still had a towel in the air duct to prevent any creatures to get inside the house, I knew it but I still turned the hood on to test and the towel flew about 18 feet across the driveway. I am only giving 4 Stars on the Design because the Timer feature has no influence on the functions of the exhaust hood. After you select the desired duration for the hood the Timer feature only makes an audible sound once and End appears on the display. It would have been Excellent if the Timer feature would have turned off automatically the hood. Overall, great product.

This is an attractive unit, which I have set up in re-circulation mode. It performs relatively well at low speeds (setting 1 or 2 out of 4). At high speeds (settings 3 and 4), there are several major performance problems. First, the noise is unreasonably loud; you can't carry on a conversation. The installer indicated that it would be a little quieter if the unit is exhausted to the outside. Second, at high speeds, the exhaust at the top of the chimney creates a back draft that causes the cooking smoke to be pulled away from the hood and directed into the kitchen. The installer said this might also be solved with venting to the outside. For these two reasons, the hood has limited functionality in the re-circulation mode; it works okay at low speeds, but not at high speed settings.
