I bought this in December, and the electric switch built into the hose failed within a week - the central vac doesn't turn on.

I grew up with a contractor dad and he always installed Nutone built in Vacs. So when I was able have my own home built. I insisted the contractor install the same. I had the hose kit for a little over a year and the switch assembly in the handle died. I continued using the hose and after another year of having to pull the hose from the outlet each time i want to stop vacuuming I'm ordering another hose from a different maker. The quality of the hose kit has definitely deteriorated from what my dad used to install. I'm trying to support American business but sometimes they make it very hard. Of course it failed after warranty period

The above hose replaced one of two original hoses that I purchased new when I built the house 18 years ago. Over the years I nursed the original hoses back to health on numerous occasions patiently waiting for Nutone to address the problems. Well 18 year's later this new hose is of far lessor quality than the original at a premium price! Well Nutone, I would highly recommend investing your time and money on quality hose's and attachments vs. fancy vac canister's that are hidden in basements and closet's! This will be the last Nutone product I purchase and it will be replaced with two upright vacuum's with Hepa filters and no bags, at a fraction of the cost of your central vac system. People say buy American! Well it was the icing on the cake when I read it on the hose because it's a sad excuse for American made!

This is the third hose I have had for my central vac system. This system was installed in a new home in March of 2013. It is basically used once a week. The electrical wires inside the hose fail. Seems they should last longer than a year a half considering the price. Will see how long this one last. Also need to wrestle with it soon and put a hose sock on it, since it's rigid enough that it rubs paint finish off doorway and corners where it's pulled from one room to another.
