We replaced an old hood fan with the microwave. The fan removes the vapours off the stove. The features are visible and work. We have found nothing that irritates us.

This microwave does cook food and has other good features as well. But the most outstanding thing about it is the noise. The stove exhaust fan has four settings: Quiet (a.k.a. "OFF"), Very Loud (a.k.a. "LOW"), Extremely Loud (a.k.a. "MED"), Intolerably Loud (a.k.a. "HIGH"); we use the Quiet setting as much as possible. The microwave is also very noisy when it cooks. When it starts cooking, it makes a humming noise that is not a problem, but within a few seconds to a minute or so, it suddenly starts making a loud grinding sound. Durability of a microwave is very important, but we can't assess that after only a few weeks. The interior finish looks like it will last a long time. The full-width door seems a bit unusual, but we haven't found it a problem. The door-open touch button is genius and very convenient. The user manual is very poor; you'll have to experiment to learn how features work. If you press any digit 1-9 and wait a second, it will start cooking that many minutes. While cooking you can press buttons to add 30 seconds or to add 10 seconds. Power level settings seem to be difficult. Can't find a way to just set the level with number buttons; it seems you have to press the power level button repeatedly, until you get down to the power level you want. Still haven't figured out how to reduce power level while the oven is cooking. Best 3 features: it cooks, touch button to open door, may be durable. Worst 3 features: noisy, very noisy, poor manuals.

Easy to use, and the fan and light work great over the range as well. When friends visited from Europe, they stayed with me for days before realizing it was actually a microwave... the design aesthetic is that sleek and seamless.
