I have been through 3 of these machines so far and all of them have failed in different ways. The first died after the warranty expired due to a sensor issue with the ice bucket thinking it was always full so would not produce more ice. I bought a second one because I loved the ice so much, thinking maybe it was defect. The second one died within a year, and started making a crazy grinding noise and not making ice… it was within warranty so I was able to get a replacement. The replacement is garbage, dying within 4 months and has a “add water” glitch that prevents it from making ice even though there is water. I have tried every fix the internet suggests because apparently this a super common fault of the machine, but still no luck. Can’t do anything because when you get a replacement, there is no warranty. Spend your money elsewhere and do not buy this garbage machine that breaks at least once a year. Like how is that okay to sell a product that fails no matter what??? Buying an ice machine for this price was a big splurge for me, but i love the ice. However it is so clear they are selling a garbage product and don’t care about their consumer at all. This should last for years, not for months :(

I love my ice maker! I have wanted one of these for years and finally purchased it on sale. I have it scheduled to make ice from 8am - 10pm. There is always ice in the morning from the day before. I love the texture and size of the nuggets…very pleased!

I really have enjoyed this Ice maker but it has 1 major design flaw which is in the side water tank. You only have access to clean and refill from the bottom filler cap. This small opening does not allow for adequate cleaning of the water tank. Once mold sets in the upper corner of the filler cap and along the ridge line where it sets in the reservoir, it is nearly impossible to clean near the filler cap. I have tried bottle brushes, pipe cleaners but the angle just does not allow a good scrubbing. This problem would be solved easily if the top side tank could be removed for easy access and cleaning of the entire tank. A simple water gasket and snap off top would solve this cleaning issue. I have reached out to GE Opel Ice Maker Dept. but was only given instructions on how to clean the unit which does not work. I was also told that this is not a warranty item or concern and there is nothing they could do.

I love the nugget ice but I have to clean the system at least once a month- basically every 4 weeks. And I cleaned it yesterday and now it has stopped making ice. It keeps showing “Add water” and even thought the reservoir is full, it will not make ice. I can’t believe it only lasted 5 months and it is already broken.
