The Wine Refrigerator appearance is as advertised. Temperature control is non-responsive and holds at 41 degrees. Light will only illuminate top two rows of wine bottles out a total of nine rows. Locking mechanism is also non-responsive. Would have preferred a blue internal light vs the white light.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this unit -- what you'll find in this price range are wine cellars that claim to hold 50-60 bottles, but they're only Bordeaux sized and have to be creatively arranged. Not with this one: it solidly holds 55 bottles including thick Rhone, Champagne, Port, and other larger than normal bottles. You can't fit those extra large sparkling wines on every shelf, but I've gotten five Cornas and Chateauneuf-du-Pape across a standard shelf in this one. The shelves are not evenly spaced which was a smart design move, as you can fit the standard bottles on the smallest spaced shelves, and your thicker ones on the wider spacing. It also goes nice and deep for Riesling. I owned a previous Schmecke 34 bottle cellar and sold it after a couple of weeks as it was too small. I ordered Schmecke again because the cellar was the most accurate I've ever seen. This unit is not quite as accurate, but fluctuates 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit in either direction, from 54.5 to 55.5, but not anything greater. It's also quiet for its size, though I have it in a room that is primarily storage. Now on to the issues you should be aware of, keeping in mind that because of the size and price, I would totally order this one again if I needed a second. The package in which its shipped could be a bit more braced. My first unit arrived with the door bottom hinge bent down, the door nearly off the top hinge, and a crack in the trim. A quarter turn of an allen wrench and the door came off, so this wasn't safe. The good news is that their customer service is EXCELLENT. They answered the phone in Pennsylvania right away, had a supervisor get back to me, and in this case steered me back to the retailer for a replacement (unusual, but fine) which was shipped out same day and arrived the next day, with instructions to dispose of the first unit. In windows outside of retailer returns, they usually tell you to cut the power cord, send a picture, and will ship you a new one. There's no jumping through hoops or trying to figure how to get this thing back in its packing materials. The second unit was pristine, but the control panel was unresponsive. A look at their troubleshooting tips revealed that this requires a new control panel. I was a little disappointed because this is clearly a quality assurance issue and appears not to be correctly tested prior to installation. Luckily I still had the first cellar, removed the interior trim, pulled out the control panel, and installed it in the new one in 20 minutes. If I wasn't mechanically inclined, this would have been a huge pain to get two heavy units back upstairs and arrange for a special trash appliance pickup, but the replacement control panel worked. So you may be hit or miss on getting a great cellar, and hopefully won't have to take it down stairs like I did (and back up!), but it's worth it as this is superior to everything else I've seen in market in this price range and size. You can rest assured though that if anything does happen, you have Wayfair and Schmecke to back you up, so I'd still go for it. Wayfair's customer service was fantastic, picking up the phone quickly and walking me through the replacement process. A new unit was shipped within an hour. One note: if you're moving this boxed item around, do NOT cut the support straps. The weight of the fridge pulls at the staples and the bottom of the box separates from the sides, not good as I was taking it downstairs. Enjoy and best of luck with your purchase.
