Happy with my purchase! The first shipments unit was problematic Wayfair replaced it immediately paid for the return shipping of the original distiller. In operating the replacement, I found that the carafe lid works better for me without the fitted cap.

This unit was great the first 31 times I used it. I would've given it 4 stars (the handle on the carafe is not very secure so I always carried it with a hand underneath the bottom just in case the handle gave way, but otherwise it worked great). Then, the seam along the metal on the inner tub pulled apart (seems like heat warping) and it is now unusable. Water pours through the bottom of the unit. I'm glad I noticed it when I first turned it on because the water seems to be pouring through where the power and electronics are. Bad design on the inner liner. Very disappointed. I had only used the unit 3 times in the first year I had it, but 4 weeks ago began using it daily to fill a plant room humidifier. It was never physically jostled and was cleaned before refilling each time I used it. It's long past the return date so all I can do is recommend that you compare the price to its useful life and decide if it's worth it to you.

I fill it up and let it run while I sleep. When I wake up, I have a full pot (gallon) of distilled water. I need distilled water to use for the medication I mix up for my chickens. The bleached water from the tap makes the medicine inactive, so this is a great way to save money. I don't need to buy gallons of water from the store anymore, now I can make my own. I love it! It's professional looking and easy to use.
