This is adorable BUT not safe! 1) The little rubber ends of the rods that hold the wooden beads was broken in multiple places, which means there are funny little pieces of rubber sticking out and, most importantly 2) It is not a childproof item. The parts that look like beading are made of actual wooden beads, threaded onto a thin metal rod. Those metal rods are flexible and can be pulled out of the fully assembled bookcase with very little force. At that point, the only barrier to getting the beads off of the rod are these small, rubber caps, that (as mentioned) isn't even in good shape, and can easily be pulled off. An unsupervised toddler could have those beads off the bookcase and in their mouths in no time at all. This should not be used without supervision, unless you modify it in some way that makes it impossible for a creative child to get their hands on loose beads. The beads definitely do not pass the choke test. They could absolutely be choked on. This almost feels like it should be recalled.

Looks great and a nice quality piece. Only downside is that the beaded rods can be pulled out accidentally. My toddler tug on it and can pull it out so may need to glue the suspension rods in.

Very cute and looks great in my toddler’s room. However the rods are flexible and one good pull and they will come out, and the little wooden balls will go flying everywhere. Also the back has notches for baseboards which in theory is a nice idea so the entire bookcase can rest flat against the wall. However, my baseboards are about an inch taller and so we had to secure it a little extra to the wall since it wouldn’t be resting directly on the floor. Overall I like the aesthetic but has some issues.
