This is for my 11 year old. He uses the desk to build his legos on and we store some tubs of lego's under the desk so that they are accessible for him to create things. The LED lights don't do much to light up under the bed. They are more for fun to decorate under the bed. We have added some LED lighting in different places under his bed so that it is depressing to hang out under there. It hurts a bit to climb the ladder. Not my favorite thing. However, I have discovered that most bunkbeds have this issue. The bed is a teeny bit squeaky if wiggled. My 17yr old son and I built the bed. However, I did most of it myself and I just called my son in to help with the mattress support railing. (You need two people. One holds the side still while the other fits the supports into both sides.)

DO NOT BUY! Absolutely unstable and wobbly, even with no on on top. The flimsy construction might be bareyl suitable for a kids twin bunk bed, where you have less weight up top and more structural members down low. Dangerous for a queen size loft bed. Avoid.
