Very nice got my son to finally want to sleep on a bed he kept sleeping on the floor because he didnt like his old bed. Not difficult to assemble but it did take forever list of parts in the instructions not really good but again nothing extra complicated.

Very happy with the bed. It's exactly what I expected and was very easy to assemble. I put it together by myself in about an hour and 20 minutes. (I do have some experience in putting this kinda thing together). If you have never assembled an item like this with the "male/female" fasteners, the written instructions may seem a bit lacking or confusing at first, but once you have unpacked and checked the hardware, the diagrams start to make sense. Actually, it will be difficult to assemble the bed incorrectly... all the attachment points/holes have already been drilled, the only tools needed are a large flat head screw driver, a medium Phillips head screw driver. A small tack hammer might come in handy to tap the dowel pins down if they are a little tight going in.....I just used the fat end of my screw driver. The factory hole placement is pretty precise so everything fit together well, even the 3 drawers fit well. The black finish is adequate but pretty thin, so I imagine my 9 year old son will have it nicked up fairly quickly. (South Shore does provide a small touch-up pen with the hardware). They also provide small self-adhesive felt pads for the down side of bed, but they are very small and only about 3/16" thick, but they do make it easy to slide the bed on wood floors. If your kids are little rascals like mine, I would recommend larger/thicker felt pads from Home Depot. All in all, the bed is well made, very sturdy. The cross member design, with the 2 full length, full width top boards make for a solid platform. So, no matter what type mattress is used, there are no voids or slats to worry about. It's especially nice for foam mattresses. The three drawers are bigger than I thought they would be and will hold a bunch of stuff. An enclosed flyer with the instructions mentions that the drawers are rated at 25 pounds each. I suppose that's because the bottom of the drawer is only held in place by a 1/4" notch in all 4 sides of the drawer. Should be sufficient for 9 year old shorts and socks. Anyway, my son is thrilled that he's got himself a Mates bed, (unfortunately, we're still waiting on his gel memory foam mattress, but hopefully it will be here soon). I would definitely recommend this bed for any youngster age 6 through early teens. Very pleased with total buying experience, easy order, quick delivery, easy assembly, nice quality, and low cost helped me pay for the mattress....what's not to like about that!

I purchased this in a full size for my son and it is really nice! It arrived quickly. The only complaint was how difficult it was to put together!! If you order expect to build from scratch! Other than that it is great..

Delivery was very fast and carrier was gentle with the package and delivered it inside my screened in porch which was perfect! The box was very heavy but the quality of the bed is very good for the price. The only reason I rated this with four stars instead of five is because of the instructions and how difficult they were to figure out. It was in pencil writing and pictures with no words and the labels did not match what was in the instruction booklet. But my two sons and I teamed up and figured it out and got it assembled within three hours. I purchased this for my 13-year-old who fits the bed perfectly. I would still highly recommend this bed. ** The headboard in the picture is not included and you will have to purchase that separately.

My son loves it. Was a pain to put together but overall satisfied.
