This was the MOST frustrating, drawn out, time-consuming assembly process. I paid for professional assembly and that process was honestly terrible. I will NEVER pay for assembly again from Wayfair. I am very handy but was not living at the address yet when we had it delivered and I wanted it to be completed by the time my college-aged daughter and her friend would be there. More importantly I wanted to make sure that all the parts were there and assembly was complete before the return window closed. Only my sister-in-law was living there at the time and I also didn’t want her to worry about checking to make sure all the parts were there. The first professional who attempted to assemble it put one of the stair pieces on upside down (shown in the first picture), there were multiple scratches on different parts and told my sister-in-law that he couldn’t complete the job because the one part was defective (nope he installed it upside down) and a bag of screws was missing. He also brought his family (including a young child) with him to this appointment. My sister-in-law was uncomfortable with this. I contacted Wayfair to have parts replaced and Angi (that’s who Wayfair contracts assembly out to) to set up the second assembly appointment once the replacement parts were delivered. Trying to explain everything multiple times, get the right parts sent (had to explain the parts missing multiple times and still the wrong ones were sent at first) and the time invested in contacting these two businesses was a lot! My sister-in-law was there again for this second appointment. She said this professional definitely knew what he was doing and she was confidence that he could have completed the job if the first professional didn’t strip most of the screws and the right replacement parts were there. Since the majority of the screws were stripped he couldn’t even get started with trying to disassemble/reassemble what was done incorrectly. He also said the wrong box was sent so bag of screws was still missing. He couldn’t do anything that day. So again I contacted both Wayfair and Angi to reschedule and make sure the parts needed were on the way. I ended up just canceling the professional assembly (I was refunded the assembly fee from Wayfair) and hired someone else to finish the bed. Unfortunately there are scratches and there are screws that aren’t the right sizes so they stick up a little. I am meticulous when assembling things and this professional service was the worst! On Wayfair it shows that the cabinet doors face the inside and open under the bed. The handyman we did hire said that if assembled correctly they would face the outside. He said he would have to finagle it to make it work so that the cabinets weren’t facing the wall and made unusable. He did his best to disassemble everything and reassemble it, but it is still not perfectly assembled. The cabinet doors don’t close properly and I don’t know if it’s poor assembly from the first professional since some things couldn’t be redone or if the quality control with holes lining up is the problem. There are a few pros. The bed did comfortably hold 2 college age girls in it. It also looks nice (minus the scratches and screws that aren’t flush). It fits the space well. The stairs are a little narrow going up but doable. If you do get this don’t make the mistake of standing up quickly if you are under it! It was late when I was trying to get the cabinet doors to line up and shut, was beyond frustrated and stood up and smashed the top of my head on the metal bars under the bed. Overall I honestly can’t give you a perfect review of this loft bed due to the assembly nightmare caused by the first professional and me not physically being there for the beginning of this process. My advice is that if you aren’t very handy or do not have someone that you know is great at assembling things, please skip purchasing this bed to save yourself a lot of frustration and wasted time on chats/phone calls with both Wayfair and Angi (if you pay for professional assembly). If you do decide to purchase it after reading my review I wish you a much better experience than I had!
