This bed was a NIGHTMARE to put together. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. And not to pat myself in the back or anything, but I’m a pretty handy person with lots of experience in IKEADIY cheap furniture assembly. Buyer beware. It took me three days with the help with two different people. Pieces that didn’t fit, felt like the instructions were completely backwards, etc..

Absolute piece of junk. Very thin metal, and stripped threads. My son is only about 70lbs, and the whole thing rocks when he climbs up.

1. BoxingPackaging 2. Tooling (supplied vs required) 3. Assembly Process 4. Quality 5. Overall 1. Boxing and Packaging This package comes in at ~ 7 x 7 x 80 in. and is heavy enough – well over 100 lbs - that two people are needed to lift. The contents are packaged very well with a tight fit and Styrofoam padding with thin cardboard separating the components in a way that damage is very unlikely. 2. Tooling This item comes with a set of somewhat complex directions along with 2 Allen keys and various bolts for assembly. No other items seem necessary but additional individuals are recommended to complete assembly. 3. Assembly Process The assembly process is difficult. The first thing that I recommend is to lay out all components provided and check each off from the parts list in the first 2 pages of the instructions – I did notice that the Parts List numbers each item but this is not reflected with the markings (via stickers) on what is provided, they were incorrect – this led to some confusion in which part is necessary for each step and I was forced to disassemble on multiple occasions. Be aware that these pieces must be assembled in a certain orientation as the holes drilled are not symmetrical around some of the shaftssupport structures, again leading to a need to disassemble. I’d recommend that the design is updated with ‘fail safes’ implemented so that a component can only be assembled in the correct orientation as the drawings are not enough to catch proper orientation. Step 1, out of a total of 9, took me well over 90 minutes to complete so it is recommended that the user allows themselves enough time to complete. It was the second step, however, that requires several individuals and possibly additional equipment to complete. The second step involves assembling the frame of the twin sized bed and has 12 support bars that slide into holes on 2 fairings that are laid in the longer direction. 10 of the support bars are inserted into holes and 2 bars are screwed into these holes – the support bars are long enough that inserting one at a time is not possible since the clearance is not enough to angle a second bar in without spreading the fairings out enough for the first bar to fall out– so all must be inserted into one side and then the 2nd fairing must be slid into all 12 at the same time – there is no alignment method outlined in the instruction so multiple people are needed to complete this and even then, success may be difficult to achieve. Also – screwing in the 2 support bars first does not leave enough of a gap to insert these others. I would recommend replacing the holes with open ended slots to simply drop these support bars into place and screw in the 2 with ease – this wouldn’t affect the structural capabilities of the final product since the force exerted on the bed frame will always be downward and the 2 bars screwed in would provide enough stiffness to the frame. Overall, the assembly process was not properly thought through and is due for improvements. 4. Quality Since the final product could not be assembled the quality can’t be properly assessed, but the components seem ridged, the wooden tabletop is heavy, sturdy, and has a beautiful color. With the amount of support bars in the entire assembly I can safely predict the final product would be exceptionally ridged. I did not see any chipped paint on the metal or on the wooden tabletops. 5. Overall The Twin Bed with Bookcase is an above average piece of furniture. The dual utility in workspace and bedspace would be perfect for children, teenagers, college students, and anybody in limited living space that needs to maximize available floor space. The quality is exceptional, with a rigid feel, heavy wood that will not warp or bend, and a high-quality look. Assembly is difficult – but would be well worth it once ccompleted. Be prepared for sure frustration but the final product is well worth it. (Overall, 810)ompleted.
