Pros: It is a pretty bunk bed. The slats feel sturdy and thick. I thought the drawers would be flimsy but they actually hold a lot. My 9 year old can sit up on the bottom bunk with a 12 inch mattress, however, she won’t be able to much longer. It shipped quickly. We have low ceilings and it will work for a bit longer before we have to split them apart.
Cons: It feels a bit wobbly to me. I was hoping it would be sturdier. Maybe I’m just not used to bunk beds yet. I also don’t like how the top bunk is only attached by 4 smallish dowel rods, 4 wood screws and the ladder. This may be standard but it feels like it could crack the wood easily while getting up and down. Assembly was a nightmare. Vague instructions but can be figured out with some time. The biggest issue was with the pieces not properly lining up. Also there was damage to multiple pieces in shipping. The box was perfectly fine. It was how they were packaged that caused damage. An 8inch mattress works on top but I would opt for a 6 inch. With an 8 inch mattress, you only have 4 inches of side rail and this created a problem for us. It would be so much better if the side rails were a bit taller.
As of now, it fits our purpose. It is a decent piece of furniture. I’m not sure how it will hold up but I’m hoping for the best!
