Easy to connect/install. It does have an automatic shut off - there is a sensor on the side but it isn't flush to the wall - it sticks out enough that occasionally a cube will land on it and stays there, shutting it off even though there might be almost no ice in the bin. Not an issue while in steady use, as long as you flick any cubes off whenever you are in there but if you are counting on your down time to fill the bin, you might open it up in the morning to be a bit disappointed. It does it's job and as long as it is watched it makes the capacity I need it too, but with the issues with the shut off, should have gone with a bigger bin.
