These boxes are quite lovely! They are well made and attractive!

I thought these boxes were too good to be true at this price, and they were. I suppose you could argue that MDF is "wood" as the description states, but it is not solid wood; it is medium density particle board. The description also states that the exterior is wood, and it is not. These are MDF boxes covered with a paper burl design, or paper mache. The interior and the bottom of the boxes are covered with an inexpensive, black, paper-type "cloth," which can be expected to degrade over a long time. They did add rubber feet to the bottom of each box and the hinges are a nice aged-bronze color. For what they really are they are well done, but this is not what was advertised, hence the one star. Paper mache boxes need more care than wooden ones to prevent wear and tear, so this should factor into the decision about where to use them. I do plan to keep them because they are good quality and a fair price for what they are, and they would be too expensive to return. They are also an unusual long shape for decorative storage boxes, which I plan to use on my desk for pens, pencils, rulers, letter openers and the like. They will save me from repetitive dusting of open desk top storage containers, like pen holders. These boxes are certainly much more attractive than looking at a bunch of office tools. If advertised correctly I would have rated them as five stars like the other reviewers.
