This is a great piece. It's very interesting and looks high end. It's difficult to tell from the photos online, but the entire piece is gold; the bottom is not a different color. However, the optical illusion that makes the bottom appear dark in the photos online also makes the bottom appear dark in real life, as you can see in my photo. The bottom looks like a darker color from every angle in my living room. I consider this to be an asset because it makes it look more interesting. The reason that I am only giving 4 stars, rather than 5, is that the item arrived with the edge of the stem broken twice. So I had to go through two separate procedures of contacting Wayfair customer service and dropping the broken item off at FedEx before finally receiving an undamaged item.

This bowl is so well-made. It is a beautiful addition to my foyer console.

The material is quality just more gold than than pictured.
