I didnt see anywhere that its battery operated. Three C size batteries. I was saddened to learn that the weights and chains are just for decoration. They serve as no function at all rather than misleading looks. I thought the two cones were weights and that the chains would operate like the old-fashioned cukoo clocks. At least the leaf pendulum does function! But I admit, after the unexpected purchasing and placing of the three C size batteries I came to fall in love with the outdoors like songful sounds of birds, then the Cokoo bird comes out, flaps its little wings and opens its beak to chirp Cukoo. Its an adorable Little Cukoo clock. So despite my wanting to return it, the sounds and the tiny bird won me over!
