I was shopping for some desk accessories and was so surprised to see how costly the paper board pieces were in the store. I knew I could make something just as nice by upcycling some things I already had around the house, and this textured wallpaper would be perfect for the job. I started out with a very sad looking hanging file storage box that needed some love. I painted the fabric covered lid with acrylic paint and applied the wallpaper to the sides and bottom. Next, I found an index card box that worked for storing my Project Life cards, but I wanted it to match my other pieces. Small projects like this go so quickly! Finally, I upcycled a really nice heavyweight box that some greeting cards came in. I just hate throwing out or even recycling nice boxes like this, so I was happy to give it a new life as a desktop storage box. First I slit the two back corners to convert the lift off lid into a hinged lid. Then I covered the top and bottom parts separately with the wallpaper and used a strong adhesive to adhere the back flap of the lid to the back side of the box. I just love how nice these pieces look now and that they all match! Best of all, I was so happy that I was able to keep these three things out of a landfill.
