This clock is a high-end item, providing a great focal point. I was pleased by the size, even though I measured and expected a large clock, this has a magnificent presence. It is at least the 4" thick depth and gives it an impressive look. The gears move - at first they were not moving - which would have been OK with us; however, after a day we realized they were moving. Could have been it took a bit for them to loosen up after shipping - or maybe the battery for that operation wasn't quite seated correctly - although we didn't take it down and check. It is a heavy clock - a little awkward to hang but the metal bar is strong and secure. Doesn't come with screws or anchors - so have them on hand. UPDATE: 3/08/2026 - have had the clock for a little over 2 weeks and have been experiencing an intermittent faint high-pitched whistle in our home. Finally diagnosed as the clock. Removed the batteries and the whistle stopped. Put the battery back in for the clock itself - no sound. Put the batteries back in for the gears to move, whistle started up. Am in contact now with manufacturer through Wayfair - they keep wanting pictures but there is no photo that would show an internal mechanical sound. A bit frustrating. UPDATE 3/10/2026: Manufacturer asked that I purchase new batteries and replace all three. Did that but still experiencing the whistling sound. Unfortunately, the clock is now out of stock, so a replacement item is not an option. Because the clock is unique and I love it, I will keep it. The manufacturer has provided a 20% discount because of the mechanical issues. Their Customer Service is SUPERB! I updated my rating to 4 stars because of their excellent service; however, the mechanical issues with the clock emitting the high-pitched whistle warrants a lower rating for the item itself. I may end up removing the batteries from the compartment that operates the gears and have them remain stationary. Too bad because this is an awesome clock.

It’s a beautiful clock. I especially love the gears that continue to move.

It's a lot heavier than I thought. But a beautiful addition above my fireplace. I suspect before long, no one will know how to read roman numerals, so I think that makes this clock special.
