Yet, it's a handy item and it's well-made. Quite thick and sturdy. When it first arrived, I thought, "Too small," yet that shows I hadn't read the length actually, purchased on the visual. Just a Ding-Dong type of item, but, there are tons of uses in a home or garage. For many people, I think the most common use is to mount them in the bathroom to allow towels to dry post showers. As for coat rack, I think it depends upon if a person has a loop on their coat and how wi-i-ide the coat might be. This is small. I put it in my pantry and it has full-time job.
