We tried 2 other sets of silverware before keeping this one. We only wanted 18/10 stainless steel. These come minimally packaged - which was ok. They are probably somewhat heavier than a lot of other sets out there but I didn't want something that felt flimsy and/or cheap. And these look and feel expensive. They are very shiny - almost mirror-like. I think it adds a beauty to them and they clean up perfectly in the dishwasher. We have soft water and I started to add rinse aid - they come out with no spots - very happy about that. These also are a tad larger than a lot of other sets we looked at, but again, we like that. All the utensils are very easy to hold - good ergonomically. I can't say enough good things about this silverware. When I pull the silverware drawer open it puts a smile on my face just looking at them. I'd say that they are a wee bit on the expensive side, but not much because you can buy a lot cheaper silverware and spend A LOT more. We quickly found out that the cheaper silverware is just that - cheap - they look and feel cheap. And we won't spend $1000 or more for silverware. So I actually think these are a very good value. Last thing - these can work both for "fancy" silverware because of the classic elegant design and finish, AND can serve easily as your everyday silverware also. Note: this same set comes with gold accents - but we do use/wash them everyday and felt that over time the gold plating would dull and possibly come off in places. However, the gold accent silverware would be great for less used formal "special occasion" silverware. UPDATE: We have now had this silverware for 7 months. Still love the silverware, but there has been one problem (that other reviewers have alluded to on other sites). The knives (not the forks or spoons) develop small rust stains and mild discolorations on the blades that become very perceptible. Big disappointment. I'm guessing it's due to a different metal alloy used - maybe because of a different manufacturing process involving the hollow handles? I've been able to remove the stains with a wet sponge and liquid Bar Keepers Soft Cleanser. But 16 knives takes me about 45 minutes - not an enjoyable task. I'll probably need to do this 2-3 times a year - bummer!

Hi This cutlery is stamped Splendide make in China and I suspect this is a knockoff

So far so good with this set. Though sometimes the knives come out not looking great and need to be hand washed. They are pretty and of good quality.
