First off let me say I LOVE these plates. I love the colors the size of the mug how they look together. And I was excited to buy dishes that were made of stoneware. Two weeks ago I would’ve given these 5 stars. However, I’ve since used them in the microwave and though they claim to be microwave safe. Heating something in the microwave for only a minute or two causes the plate to be a million times hotter than the food to the point you can’t even touch it and need oven mitts. Sometimes my food is still fridge cold and the plate is so friggin hot I can’t even touch it. I’ve heard that some dishes made in China are falsely claiming their microwave safe and this is what happens when it’s fraudulent claims as well as it can be a health hazard. I’ve also read that if this happens with stoneware, the stoneware can become damaged from such excessive heat. I’m so disappointed because I love the looks of these dishes but now am questioning the safety, and legitimacy of the product. Maybe that’s why I got such a great deal I gave away my 100 platzgraff set to give myself a housewarming gift of a fresh start and now I’m regretting that decision. This never happened with platzgraff. So if you want to avoid burns, or want to use a microwave…..avoid this dish set.
