Part of the reason I purchased these utensils was that they were described as being "FDA approved." I think the majority of Americans now know that FDA approval doesn't always mean medications, & other items, are truly safe...as many medications that were approved by the FDA were later found to cause very harmful health issues. As in these utensils, which are NOT made from SAFE silicone! If you search the "pinch test" on the internet, you will find there is a simple test that you can do to find out if silicone cooking products contain cheap fillers. The pictures above show an example, if you pinch the silicone & it turns white, it means that it contains fillers. 100% or "platinum" silicone doesn't contain fillers & will not turn white when bent back or "pinched." The fact that these turn white means that they contain fillers that can range from anything from embalming fluid to latex, or other fillers. I am allergic to latex & I was getting hives shortly after I began using these kitchen utensils & another set that I purchased from Wayfair. After going to many doctors, including an allergist, they finally asked about silicone cookware because they knew about my severe allergic reaction to latex. As recommended by the allergist, I quit using the two sets of silicone kitchen utensils I purchased from Wayfair...after 2 weeks of steroids & benadryl, the hives, inflammation & difficulty breathing finally ended. The fillers in these utensils can leach into your food. It is past the return date, but even if it weren't...I found out after buying these that Wayfair charges return shipping. I doubt I will be buying anything from Wayfair after this experience & I definitely won't ever purchase any kitchen utensils from them. This is very disappointing because I thought Wayfair sold quality products. I will know whether or not Wayfair follows fair business practices if they include this honest review about this, & the other set of kitchen utensils I purchased from them. This set didn't have a brand name on them. The other set I purchased from Wayfair did, however, it was impossible to get a picture showing the brand name & showing the white fillers, all in thecsame photo. If you were to purchase these & perform the same test, you would quickly see these fillers.
