[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first time we have had a rice cooker, but so far have found it to be a useful product. Rice takes longer to cook than on the traditional stovetop method, but it comes out perfectly—no clumpy rice or messy stove top spillover. My biggest complaint is how sparse on info the instruction manual is. Having some additional guidance on which setting and water to rice ratio to select for various rices would be extremely useful. I’d also like some more recipes to try out to experiment with the steaming function. so far I had moderate success with a few attempts with white rice but not so much with Jasmine rice. I’m hoping for even more success as I seek out new meal ideas and learn how to best create with our new toy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros - Features Reasonably-priced Easy to use Easy-to-clean condensation collector, lid liner, cooking pot, steamer basket and sealer Stainless steel base is hefty and sturdy Larger steamer basket than quite a few models and doubles as a rice rinser Non-stick cooking pot Cooking pot is marked/etched on interior for easy measuring of foods/liquids, both in litres and cups (remember, weight is not same as volume; 8 OZ water = 1 CUP, while 7 OZ rice uncooked = 1 CUP) Digital touch-pad settings Delay start feature great for meal planning, as it enables setting ahead of time and meal is ready when wanted Unit automatically shifts to "Keep-warm" feature after every setting, eliminating cold, gooey rice and cereals; exception is Steam-Cook setting Convenient rice paddle and measuring cup (6 OZ - 177g - 3/4 C) Pros - Cooking, Simmering and Steaming Simmers, steams and cooks many foods, with large capacity, 4 - 20 C. Using correct settings based on food to cook, amount of liquid used, and following cook times, dishes have turned out perfectly -- steamed couscous, quinoa, rice, risotto, creamy grits, oatmeal, and malted hot cereal. For oatmeal, reduced liquid a bit to avoid any splattering. Broccoli, corn, carrots and potatoes steamed with just-right texture. Used Heat/Simmer setting for creamy, slow-cooked beans, soups and stews. Steamed fresh chicken breasts, fish, and shrimp on White Rice setting and both were very tender. Made great pasta dishes - noodles and creamy mac and cheese. Experimented with boiled eggs and yolks came out to perfection. Poached fruit and apple sauce came out great. Baked a creamy cheesecake, as well as moist, tender chocolate lava cake, and upside-down cake. Even proofed dough and baked fluffy honey-butter pull-apart bread. Cons - Features No see-through lid in this model. Cooking pot is very light-weight; unsure how durable non-stick coating is over long-term. Steamer basket rests on lip of cook pot, but no type of small, inner collapsible handles to remove basket from cook pot while water is still hot.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a Rice Cooker Steamer from Hamilton Beach to try out. I was excited to try it with rice but was skeptical for what else could be cooked in the cooker. I was very pleasantly surprised to be able to cook other foods in it. I tried vegetables which tasted delicious. I also made tapioca pudding and soup. It is very easy to clean and I am anxious to try cooking some of the other things that can be made such as cake and meats. It certainly is more versatile that I expected it to be.
