This ice sphere maker is not as easy as you would think to get a perfect circle. It’s tricky to fill the correct way. But the ice it makes is a good size. Not too big, but a size that fits well into most glasses and keeps a drink and a refill cold.

Different shaped ice is always so fun especially at parties. The best results come when you boil the water first to get all of the dissolved oxygen out of the water, the pour into the mold, then into the freezer. That way the ice will be clear. This particular mold is great for water bottles, the balls fit perfectly and don’t melt as fast as cubes!

The XL sphere ice cube tray does exactly what it claims- it makes large ice cube balls. It’s a bit difficult to fill up and the first couple of times I used it, water went everywhere. I wish it had bigger holes on the top to make it easier to fill. The holes currently in it do not allow you to fill the tray. I also wish it was silicone instead of hard plastic so it would be easier to remove the balls when done. Overall, I’m still happy with the product though.

The Lékué Sphere Ice Cube tray looked great to make those spherical ice cubes you see in trend bars restaurants so I was excited to get this. However, it’s tricky to get all the water you need into the trays to make a full spherical ice cube. It took me several attempts to figure out how out how to do that. I first got spheres hemispheres. Also it’s tricky to get cubes out of the trays after ice has melted so took one star off.

Makes 6 spheres of ice. Package came with directions, none in English. Through experimentation discovered that if you want a full sphere, fill then put the lid on and continue to fill through the holes in the top of the cover so the water is high enough to make a sphere. Takes a little muscle to get the ice out but they are solid and make for a nice presentation. Usually use 1-2 at a time then put the rest in a bag back in the freezer so I can fill the tray to make more.
