I've used silicone ice cube trays before, and as my ice maker is on the fritz, I decided to get some more so that I could have a steady supply. I selected this set because I thought having a lid would make for more efficient storage in the freezer, and help keep the cubes fresh. As others have noted, I would recommend using a baking sheet to set your cubes up for an initial freeze, as the silicone is flexible and not very thick. My prior trays likewise benefit from this treatment, however, I will note that these ones generally have thinner walls. I do think that this could be a benefit in getting the cubes out. The lids are likewise silicone, if you're avoiding plastic. You do need to make sure the edges align pretty precisely to get things to seal though.

These ice cube trays have been great for us! We tend to like bigger ice cubes in our drinks (whatever they may be) and these are perfect for that. We use them on a baking sheet because as silicone, they are pretty flimsy.

Honestly, when I first received this package, I was surprised it came in a plastic bag that was basically wrapped in tape. While the product arrived okay, I wasn't impressed with the packaging. I was also a bit concerned when I had it all unwrapped and found the lids to the molds really flimsy. There too it ended up being just fine. I do love the way the trays stack and the ice cubes ended up being fantastic. I started a drink and came back to it an hour later to still have an ice cube. All and all these are a lot easier, stackable and could potentially replace 6 containers in my freezer that we use to form ice cubes for cocktails. I am looking forward to getting some freezer space back.
