If you're looking for a plastic-free drinking experience, this is not it. Unlike the stainless steel plug on the top lid featured in the photos, bottom lid which secures the infuser has a flat acrylic liner which is in direct contact with the contents. It is not possible to use it without the bottom lid due to the top lid being narrower than the body. I have not and will not be using it due to this. The care instructions specify NOT to use with boiling water, so no brewing tea. Specifying it for cold-brew coffee seems very intentional. No idea what part of it is "vacuum insulated;" the glass tube is single-wall. It is quite thick and seems relatively durable, which is the only praise I really have.
