good quality clear plastic. This item holds 24 eggs and the wells are large enough for jumbo chicken eggs or medium sized duck eggs. They are a bit larger than I had expected but the extra room allows for a larger variety of egg storage. The eggs are protected and smaller bantam eggs are still easy to get out of the individual wells. I like that I can wash the container thoroughly after using and reuse. I will not be needing to buy single-use cardboard egg cartons anymore. This reduces waste and promotes a cleaner storage environment. I also like the hidden handle or pull on the side of the container. This makes it easy to slide out of the refrigerator.
