Great for storing wine glasses

I expected, based on the description that the outer shell would be "hard", which it's not. That said, it is far from soft and textile like. I would put it about mid-range, as it is still very possible that damage can occur to the contents. If I'm a bit careful, I think that the glassware won't be broken. The containers were very easy to put together and do provide a modicum of protection.
