I picked this Staub, because the cast-iron base means you avoid the two drawback of traditional pottery bases. You don’t have to worry about putting down a diffuser to avoid cracking, and you can add acids without damaging the seasoning. The lid was easy to season the first time and has held up well. Note that this is not a large model. It will fit enough food to serve a full meal for up to three people. Maybe four but you’d be stretching things. Well worth the investment.

Create some amazing dishes. The cast iron base is more durable than the traditional ceramic tajine base. The traditional shape redistributes the condensed moisture. Creates moist flavorful dishes. I like the neutral color.

I took a Moroccan cooking class at the Zwilling Cooking Studio and we made a few tagine dishes. They were delicious and wanted to recreate them at home. The cast iron base heats evenly and holds heat well. The ceramic top traps moisture keeping everything inside supple and delicious. Ive also used it as a braiser for non Moroccan dishes as well. The enamel coating on the cast iron does not need seasoning and is easy to clean. The matte interior gives great browning as well. A very unique well designed piece.

What a great piece to use for authentic Morrocan recipes. The shallow base is great for layering your meat and spices for your meal, and with the shape of the base and conical lid, the condensation from the lid can help create a great environment inside your tagine for your flavorful dishes. Since it’s cast iron, you can utilize the base to cook on the stove top while using your ceramic lid. It heats up quickly and retains that heat for even cooking, and since it's enameled, you don't have to worry about seasoning your cast iron. A great unique piece to have in the kitchen!

Great for traditional tagine recipes or any braising. I’d take a bigger one if possible. Works beautifully on an induction cooktop. Cleans up easily.
