The board itself is very nice and an excellent value for the size, but it is finished with something that's off gasing a chemical smell. I left freshly baked bread on the board overnight and in the morning I could taste a chemical flavor in my slice. I realized the board was giving off that same smell. Not sure if it's from the finish or the wood glue but I plan to sand it and see if it goes away. Regardless, it's not encouraging as a food-safe kneading or cutting surface. In the meantime I'm using it as a trivet to protect countertops near the stove and it works great for that.
