Very disappointed in the look and quality of the block.

The overall design is questionable and reflects a lack of imagination. In particular, the slot for the scissors is very awkward, and removing the scissors when there are knives in the slots above and below it is, at best, annoying. Also, if it is more sanitary and better for retaining life sharpness for the slots to be horizontal, why are the steak knives slots at the bottom vertical? I have been a loyal Wusthof purchaser for decades, and this is my first major disappointment. Perhaps I will have to shop around and look for a replacement block? Lastly, when I tried to revise my review, your system would not let me change my initial selection!! Did not one quality check your software program? This is discouraging.

We love this knife block because it matches our clear maple flooring in the kitchen and holds our collection of knives from over 50 years of cooking.

I replaced my original block that was nearly 15 years old and looking a little beat up. (The knives are still going strong after all these years.) First the small thing. The picture showed the Wustof logo on the product as a metal plate adhered to the wood. What I received had the logo engraved into the wood. Would have preferred the metal plate, but I'll live. My issue is you moved the curved notch for the scissors from the bottom to the top of the slot. In my old block, the notch was on the bottom and the scissors rested perfectly with a uniform gap between the scissors and the knives in the slots below. With the notch on the top, they don't rest properly. They lean downward and rest on the handles of the knives below. It' lacks the precision of everything fitting in the block perfectly. Not the end of the world, but it's going to bug me.

Over the years we have accumulated a number of knives and blocks. Just purchased a few more and I was shown this great block. Now our countertop has the 15 slot block all alone and looks great. Fits our larges knives and even the scissors! Great product!
