I had to take the thing apart . The door holes were an 1.3/4 Doves need 2 " or more. Its press board and the shingles are never going to last outside. It's pretty.. but its jot for real use. So mad.

Very disappointed. The quality is sloppy for a bird house at this high price!! The ornamental top is supposed to be held in place by two pegs that fit into holes on the bird house. The holes are drilled too far apart and the pegs aren’t straight so they do not fit. We will have to drill new holes to make it work. There are extra holes all over the bird house. It looks like they either made mistakes or they pre-drill holes for different designs in the same side panels and leave the unused holes exposed. Also the square window are not openings. Inly the circular ones are open holes. Not sure why that is. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ITEM. If you are going to spend this much for a birdhouse buy from a local craftsman so you can see what you are paying for!

Gorgeous bird house. Have it on a fifteen foot post for purple martins. Took another reviewers advice and treated the mini shingles with weather preservatives

This birdhouse is exactly what I was looking for! It is a bit pricey, but worth every penny. The quality is admirable and the architecture is beautiful. My husband put it up on a pole that was already planted. It was very easy. I am looking forward to purple Martin's using it and admiring it in my yard for many years to come! I recommend it highly!

Update on my review three years ago. I added more weather protectant coating etc and repainted at least once. This winter it fell apart. Very cheaply made materials, looks like particleboard. Anyway, given the price this is not OK.
