Color for the flower bed, fresh water for the birds. The Backyard Expressions pedestal bird bath stands 28 inches tall with a 20-inch basin, sized to sit among the perennials or beside a patio and wide enough for several songbirds to bathe at once. It comes in six colors: bronze, blue, green, red, mint green and lilac purple, so it can blend in or be the bright spot in the bed. Three ground stakes hold it steady in lawn or soil, and the hollow base fills with sand or gravel for extra weight on a patio or in a windy corner. The basin comes off the pedestal for a quick rinse and refill, the weather-resistant polyresin takes sun and rain in stride, and at about 4 pounds it moves easily when the garden changes. A bird bath for outside that goes together by hand in minutes, with room in the basin for a small solar fountain if you'd like moving water. Empty it before a hard freeze and it's ready again in spring.
