FIRE HAZARD!! Bought Model #PCS980SM1SS because I thought GE was a good name. I was very nervous about the front controls but figured GE could be trusted & would've done proper safety testing so gave in. I live by myself with 2 cats so when my alarm company called me at work one afternoon (Feb/24) about fire being detected in my house, I could not imagine what happened. Long story short, cat somehow pressed & held the "0" for 3 seconds to unlock the "SECURITY LOCK" then turned a burner on high. Thanks to God & my house alarm, I got to the house within 3 minutes of the call to find kitchen, house FULL of smoke, flames 3-4' from the stove, licking the cupboards. Truly, without the alarm, by the time a neighbor would've noticed, I would not have had any part left of my home. ALL because a CAT can bypass GE's "SECURITY FEATURES". I haven't plugged the stove in since, never will again - would rather live without a stove than ever trust General Electric again. PLEASE do not trust children or pets with this stove. Foot note, in a power outage, the stove's "Security" reverts to Unsecured so God help you if you aren't at home to reset the stove after a power outage - no pressing "0" required at all.

This product should have been kick out of the market for its dangerosity. Have to shotdown main breaker bc sometimes control panel does not respond to finger. But you can start it without knowing it if a drop of water falls on the control panel. Weird electric noise when turned on. Etc Etc. My worst experience. Again I don’t understand why it’s still on the market. So dangerous that I maintain the lock function all the time. Way too much sensitive.

I was very excited to receive this stove. It has a very pleasing esthetic profile and is somewhat easy to use. I provided only 2 stars because it requires an app to be downloaded. Some functions are not able to be used without this. I attempted to use the air fry function and could not access this without downloading the app and providing a wifi connection etc. This was a lengthy process and irritating for even a computer savvy person. The website and instruction booklet that came with the range were vague. When I purchased this range I was not informed about the need for an app and wifi. I live in an area that has frequent storms with power outages and no internet. Knowing the requirements in advance for wifi, I would not have purchased this. My biggest concern, is with the company, producing a range with fantastic options, that I cannot operate from the control panel of the range itself ! Classic case of unnecessary use of technology, and one more thing to malfunction, requiring repair. Bottom line, I would not purchase, nor recommend to a friend. I know of many households with amazing ranges and all options are accessible from the control panel of the appliance and not an app on a phone.

We recently purchased this range. Discovered today that the warming/proofing/pastry options on the control panel do not actually work by design. I suggest a potential buyer read the manual very carefully before purchasing. I obviously did not. Basically, it appears to be an expensive but cheap range.
