We loved this ice maker for 1 year. The size of the mini ice cubes and easily crunchable ice was amazing and it starts to produce ice within 30 minutes although it is about an hour before you have a sizable amount. However after 13 months (mostly unused during winter months) I found black pieces in the ice. At first I thought it needed a clean cycle but I had just cleaned it the week before. Upon closer inspection I realized it was pieces of plastic. It appears that pieces of plastic inside it are now breaking off in the ice making process. In the picture you can see larger pieces in the ice scoop but there are many small pieces all throughout the ice now. Although the warranty is 90 days (terrible) I would expect this to last at least 2-3 years if not much longer.
