Bought this unit 13 months ago. We have not had any mechanical issues. However, there are 2 issues that are frustrating 1) the agitation and spin cycle excessively beat your clothes which produces ALOT of lint. There is no lint filter in the machine to collect the garment fibres that break off during these cycles. We had to install a lint trap in the stink drain to collect all the lint that MUST be cleaned after (and sometimes during) every use. If not, the lint will clog our drain pipe with grey hardened lint that requires a plumber to break it up! 2) dark clothes regularly get covered with grey lint smudges. These need to be cleaned off manually. because of this we question the cleanliness of the laundry. We just use tide liquid soap - at most level 3 of 5 on the measure. We will add borax powder or Oxiclean powder to the towel loads only. We bought GE based on the trust we had with our local independent retailer. We have a GE dryer and Fridge that are working properly. But the washing machine...? Probably would not buy it again. A relative has a HE Top load in another brand and they don't have these issues.. We cannot get this washing machine to fill up with water! For the wash, sometimes it fills up part way, but sometimes it puts only a tiny amount of water, then stops and starts agitating. But I should not even use the word agitating, as it barely agitates at all! It moves a quarter turn one direction, then pauses for a second then a quarter turn back the other way, and it does that for the whole wash cycle, no matter what cycle we put it on! And the rinse is a joke, it sprinkle in a tiny bit of water while the clothes are spinning, and calls that a rinse. We tried the deep fill button for the rinse, which is SUPPOSED actually fill with water and agitate for the rinse cycle, but it has never worked, not even once, no matter which cycle we are using. We have to run a second wash cycle, just to rinse the clothes, and hope it actually puts some water in this time. Finally, the spin cycle, it goes on WAY too long, the clothes do not need to spin for 20 minutes, it is crazy, and if you try to stop it early, it messes up the computer and the whole thing just stops working completely.
