The one type of screws used for assembly are sorta difficult to use. Sturdy great for if you have a small space and need storage. Definitely want to assemble with 2 people. I did it by myself in a few hours though.

I had my doubts on how sturdy the bed would feel, and I have been pleasantly surprised! I have a pre teen and an older elementary aged child, and both feel so comfortable in this bunk bed. No creaking or shaking of either bunk when the other moves around. Plan to give it the whole afternoon for assembly. Yes, there are a lot of parts. I wish the shelves had more internal supports. I can already see how over time the top shelves will likely begin to sag (but not yet, obviously). My kids love to read and love to build up their own library, so we'll definitely be testing the boundaries haha! Overall, I'm very satisfied with the bunk bed!

Perfect for my kids who are 8 6. Took a few hours to put together, boxes they come in are very heavy. Sturdy bed frame, spacious book storage shelves.

Disapppointing that the design is not "reversible" allowing for shifting of the bookshelf to the opposite end. Fortunately, I'm pretty handy and was able to drill a few holes and attach the bookshelf to the 'foot' of the bed to accomodate our room layout. However, the 'headboard' side has solid panels that keep things from falling through. So, we have 'cubbies' on one end that have no backing. I may tack some luan or melamine in place if it becomes an issue. Materials are mostly plywood with some pieces, like the bookshelves, done in MDF. The bed slats are solid pine but not very robust. They should be adequate for supporting the weight of our kids, but they're not the highest quality and we'll see if they withstand the jumping and leaping that 4 and 5-year-olds like to do on beds. (We've cautioned our kids that the beds are NOT for jumping, just in case.) Most of the hardware is visible (screw heads and the bolt holes). The painting appears to be rather slap-dash. One coat of sprayed-on color which has not been sanded. So, you can feel the texture of the spray in a lot of places. One piece has a full-on hand print where someone obviously steadied themself on the still-drying board and they never bothered to fix it before boxing and shipping. For what we paid we will probably use it until the kids outgrow it then toss it on the kindling pile. It's not 'heirloom' furniture. Then again, it's not priced to be.
