This bed is really nice for the price ! Looks great and gives my kids space and room. As far as putting together you definitely need a second hand, by yourself you will struggle. I rate the difficulty to put to together a 3 out of 10. Definitely purchase if u have multiple children it’s a great option. Mattress size I used a 6” and it’s fits perfectly.

The "silver" color pictured in the product page is a little deceptive - it is more steel colored than silver. That is a minor point. The finish paint was badly applied on many pieces, with black streaks everywhere. I made sure it was not just dirt - it's clearly an issue with either how the pieces were painted or how they were handled afterwards. I don't care that much since it is only for when our grandkids visit, but it is a significant cosmetic flaw. The major problem with the unit was that six of the threaded inserts at the ends of the platform rails were buggered and would not accept the hex bolts. This appeared to be due partially from welding debris that got into the threads when the inserts were spot welded to the frame. Luckily, I have a tap and die set and was able to fix the threads. Also, one of the "A" screws which go into those inserts had damaged threads, and they only supply the exact number of fasteners needed to assemble the bed - no spares. Luckily, again, I have a tap and die set and I was able to repair the threads on the bolt sufficiently to make use of it. However, if I were not mechanically inclined or did not have the right tools, the bed could not have been properly assembled. The assembly instructions were okay, not great. They did label the parts with numbers to cross reference to the instructions. However, you must be very careful to orient the parts correctly during assembly or you could wind up having to take it apart to redo it - pay attention to the orientation and number of screw holes in the assembly sketches. Once assembled, the unit is a little wobbly. It is a good idea to use the included anchoring kit and anchor it to a wall to improve stability and most importantly, prevent it from toppling over.
