Nice, sturdy bed. I have no problem climbing the ladder for a good night kiss or even all the way up on the top bunk if needed. We intentionally purchased this bed because the distance between the top and bottom bunks is greater than some beds. While it makes the top bunk pretty high, which could be a challenge for some when its time to change the sheets, my husband and I are both tall so this is less of an issue for us. The increased space between bunks means the child on the bottom can sit up easily without bumping her head. Also, we chose the version of this bed with the solid panel on the end, however we learned it means there is no good place to place your foot at the end of the bed if you want to climb partway to tuck in bedding in the back corner. Not really a deal breaker, but something to navigate. Assembly took a few hours, but didnt seem to be confusing. Overall, we are happy with our purchase!
