The size is great to hold a good chunk of our kiddos toys. This shelf is pretty sturdy once put together but would easily tip if your kids grab it to stand up, so you should use the wall bracket if that’s slightly a concern. The wood isn’t finished at all, but smooth. We intend to stain and polyurethane or just spray polyurethane if you don’t want a color. The toys have to be below the bucket sides otherwise they bump as you pull the buckets out and everything falls off. It’d be nice if the shelves had a bit more space between. This is our first unit like this though so that might just be the style.

We got this to organize our kids legos and blocks. So far it seems perfect for it. It comes with an Allen wrench and 40 screws to screw in by hand. We just used different screws that we had so we could use our drill. It took about 10 minutes to put together with the drill, super easy.
