It's a good size for leaving on the countertop and would hold an adequate amount of salt. The issue is with the opening and closing. It doesn't open easily and doesn't stay closed. It pops open up just enough so that there is a gap between the lid and the base.

Perfect size and perfect material!

Bought this for my daughter - she love it! Such a simple, attractive design and so well made.
