Decorative and will not melt or burn - I place it in my baking pan and place both on my stove top of the small kitchen in my studio apartment. I can move it to cook things - and later likely I will move it to my table with paper napkins - as it has "feet" - it does not trap water beneath it - so no worries about "condensation" from a glass or water splash causing a table ring (sort of a large coaster); Very versatile and - beautiful! So beautiful it has a place on my small diameter dining table - so I do not have to "get up" because I forgot my napkin.
