Instructions did not give clear enough images for direction of orientation for some pieces, plus would be much sturdier if there were additional buttresses or cross-bars on back or sides. Back surface of shelves is unfinished, so needs to be positioned against wall-- not freestanding between room spaces. The steadiness of the unit depends upon its weight-- otherwise, not very sturdy from side-to-side. No missing pieces in box; however, a packing strap around entire shipping box would have helped maintain box shape, which was coming apart on delivery.

perfect for my kitchen! assembly wasn't too bad once I realized I could use a power drill. I found the instructions somewhat annoying because the they didn't highlight the orientation of the boards clearly enough so I had to redo a few steps, but that ended up being fine. overall, it was pretty simple and I feel good about the sturdiness, and i'm very happy that I bought this.
