Good purchase, durable and heavy-for what it is.

This is just like every other popper of its type that I have ever seen and used. It works great as long as you remove it from the fire and empty it before the popcorn begins to burn. I like the fact that the handle, which is held together with two bolts and wing nuts, comes apart and is stored in the unit itself.

This is the perfect popcorn maker to take camping or use at a backyard bonfire! The handle easily comes apart and can be stored inside the popcorn maker so you don’t lose the various parts. Which is great for making it easier to pack and take with you! Absolutely love this little device and easy to assemble.

This popcorn maker is very sturdy! I liked how nice the box looked, it would make a great gift for a campingoutdoor enthusiast. My one complaint is that I wish the handle telescoped or detached easier for storage. As is, the wing nut is pretty easy to assemble but it’s not the quickest thing to do. The handles do detach though and fit nicely inside. It has some heft to it, so it might be a bit hard to hold over a fire if you don’t have anything to rest it on. Overall it looks like a great product and I’m excited to use it!

Lately, my son has been obsessed with roasting marshmallows over our little fire pit in the backyard. I thought it might be fun to shake things up and let him make popcorn over it. I purchased the outdoor popcorn popper by Outset with low expectations. I honestly wasnt sure how good a metal box was going to be at popping popcorn versus burning it. However, after our first test run, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. First, follow the directions on the box. DO NOT put in too much popcorn. Otherwise, youll end up with either the door opening and spilling popcorn into the fire or the door wont open, and the popcorn will burn because theres no room for the popcorn to move around. Second, make sure all your kernels get a little oil on them. I used a mister to give them a nice coating. Finally, dont set the popper ON the logs. Hold it over the flames, and shake it back and forth or side to side during the cooking process. Dont stop shaking until the popping is done. It helps to have a popcorn partner who can take over if your arm starts to get tired. Once most of the popping has stopped, remove it from the fire and set the box somewhere it can safely cool. Having a big bowl nearby to dump the popcorn into is also handy. All in all, we are very pleased with our new popcorn popper, and it offers the kids a fun but much healthier alternative to a constant stream of sugary marshmallows.
