Bought this today for a Prime rib. Like other reviews mention it keeps shutting itself off after a few minutes. Kinda pointless to use since I can't trust it'll alert me when temps are hit

I just got this unit yesterday at Menards to cook prime rib in smoker outside, after just few minutes the unit shuts down, then unable to monitor from house? This is the reason for buying it so as to monitor from in the house. Worthless I’ll take it back, waste of money.
